GM Headquarter

SAIC Motor Corp, China’s largest automaker, is a joint-venture partner with General Motors in China. The Chinese company wants a 1% stake in GM share and is willing to pay between $500 Million to $ 1 Billion for the GM’s IPO shares. GM is planning to sell 365 million shares in an IPO offer at a price of between $26 and $29.

Before the official Thursday’s IPO sales, there are already six times more shares in demand than are offered by GM. Due to the strong demand for the IPO shares, GM is expected to raise its price to above $30.

Sovereign Wealth Funds from Mideast and Asia are other foreign investors who want stakes in GM. They are planning to buy more than $1 billion worth of shares.

Unfortunately, strong demand from foreign investors is good for GM, however, many US investors got shut out from the IPO. Especially for those smaller investors who are customers with discount brokers. Some complaints were heard, considering the U.S. taxpayers were the ones that rescued GM from bankruptcy last year.

With this IPO, U.S. government ownership in GM Shares will drop from 61% to 43%. GM is planning to give back $10 billion from this IPO.

The strong demand for the IPO is partly because of the news about GM had a strong 3rd Quarter earnings of $2 billion in profit, and its revenue was up 34.5% from last year. GM announced that their expected pre-tax profit to be $19 billion for the year.

  • Price-matching policies. ShopSavvy tells you whether a retailer will match a competitor’s lower price based on ShopSavvy results.
  • Up-to-date inventory information. A blue dot by a retailer’s name on the price results pages tells you whether an item is currently in stock.
  • Streaming deals. ShopSavvy offers a Twitter-like stream of special deals and short-term promotions aggregated from sources across the Web, as well as exclusive deals for ShopSavvy users.

“ShopSavvy is all about arming consumers with information to save them money. During the busy holiday shopping season, ShopSavvy 4 offers new features that enable consumers to save valuable time as well. They can do their research and comparison shopping in the time it takes to scan a product,” Muse said.

Sharyn Bovat, the middle Tennessee relocation consultant assigned to manage the move of Nissan board member Carlos Tavares was arrested and taken to jail on July 7th, 2010 by the Franklin police in Williamson County (case # gsc-3714); the details are documented in an interview with CoolSprings.com after Bovat’s release. According to court documents Bovat was arrested a 2nd time (case # gsc-2010) on July 15th. That case was dismissed during the preliminary hearing then when the Grand Jury met the charges were brought back and Bovat was sent back to jail a 3rd time on October 22nd (case # cr-105253) Bovat alleges the arrests were retaliation for her whistle blowing against what she calls a deep rooted “Good Ole Boy” network that dominates the politically conservative community.

Bovat alleges that officer Joe Burns of the Williamson County Sherriff’s department tried to arrest her a 4th time on October 26th, but she was not home. After seeing his business card in the door Bovat had a lawyer contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s office on her behalf that evening. The next day that warrant was declared a mistake in the computer. Bovat say’s “The stress of taking my daughter home from school and seeing a card from the warrants division, then having a lawyer call them, being told there was a warrant but it might be a mistake then having to wait till the next day to find out it was a mistake was horrible. My blood pressure is high, life is miserable as a whistle blower.”

Ironically the 4th alleged attempt to arrest Bovat was the day after Bovat appeared on the channel 5 10 o’clock news covering a controversial rezoning in the local school system. Bovat’s on air quote “I’m really passionate about the diversity issue, because what’s going to happen when the complex is zoned for Centennial. Basically Williamson County Schools is going to herd all the diversity to one high school.” Bovat alleges her continued activism in the community is why she’s faces charges and has all the stress today. Bovat says she wants to smile again and she has to work to pay her pending legal bills so she’ll try stand up.

Gold and Energy Advisor Recommends British Petroleum (BP)

British Petroleum

James DiGeorgia of The Gold and Energy Advisor is recommending British Petroleum (BP). DiGeorgia says BP is one of the most undervalued oil and energy companies in the world.

Most people will tell you British Petroleum (BP) is a bad investment. James DiGeorgia, publisher of The Gold and Energy Advisor, says it’s one of the most undervalued oil and energy companies in the world, and that’s why he’s recommending it.

“This is a risky recommendation because of potential legal and other liabilities from the Gulf of Mexico disaster,” says DiGeorgia. “However, what makes BP so valuable is it has proved reserves of close to 18 billion BOE (Barrels of Equivalent Oil) and 45.3 billion BOE of non-proved reserves, of which 50% are oil.”

DiGeorgia also notes that the reserve’s life is about 43 years, which is very high.

Here’s DiGeorgia’s recommendation:

  • The stock is close to its high, so sell short a put to buy the stock at a lower price.
  • Open to sell short the BP Nov $40 put, symbol BP101120P40 at the market.
  • The stock is around $39.90, and the option is around $1.17. If we are assigned, our cost basis will be about $38.83.

DiGeorgia also points out that BP stock did not go through a basing period which is typical after a major correction. The stock is seeing resistance at the $42.50 area, with support at about $37.50.

DiGeorgia says BP took a $32 billion charge off related to the Gulf Oil disaster. They announced that they plan to sell up to $30 billion in assets to help cover costs over the next 15 months. BP CEO Bob Dudley, stated the company would like to reinstate their dividend early next year.

Identity Theft 911 Recommends Identity Theft Services Shopping Tips From The Consumer Federation

National Protect Your Identity Week

In recognition of National Protect Your Identity Week, Identity Theft 911 supports the Consumer Federation of America effort to enable consumers to recognize identity theft service providers that follow good practices. New tips identify nine things to check when shopping for identity theft services. Active identity management can be a foundational first step for consumers seeking to secure a safe future.

In recognition of National Protect Your Identity Week,Identity Theft 911 (http://www.identitytheft911.com) announces its support for the checklist “Nine Things to Check When Shopping for Identity Theft Services” released by the Consumer Federation of America this week. Identity Theft is the top complaint made to the Federal Trade Commission and surveys by Javelin Strategy and Research show that identity fraud is on the rise.

The CFA’s new tips are designed to help consumers look for identity theft services providers that follow good practices. Identity theft services may provide consumers with assisted protection, quicker detection and assisted resolution of identity theft problems, but not all service providers follow the same good practices. The CFA reported last year that the claims of some identity theft service providers are exaggerated or misleading.

“No service can absolutely prevent your personal information from being stolen,” said Susan Grant, CFA’s Director of Consumer Protection. “It’s important for consumers to know what to steer clear of when purchasing identity theft services.”

“We’re proud to work with the CFA both in educating consumers to be smart shoppers of identity theft services and providing resources that enable consumers to learn how to reduce the potential for becoming identity theft victims,” said Matt Cullina, CEO of Identity Theft 911. “We take our responsibility to educate, advise and advocate seriously. It’s tough out there and consumers need to be savvy and informed.”

The checklist of tips was developed by the CFA in consultation with their ID Theft Service Best Practice Group, which includes companies that provide identity theft services, consumer organizations and consumer agencies. The group is working on recommendations for best practices for identity theft service provides and plans to release these best practices later this year.

Key take aways from “Nine Things to Check When Shopping for Identity Theft Services” include:

1)    Do the claims on the identity theft service’s Web site or in its advertisements make you think that the service will completely protect you against identity theft? If the answer is yes, steer clear.

2)    Does the identity theft service use scare tactics to try to get you to enroll? If the answer is yes, steer clear!

3)    Does the identity theft service make basic information about the company easy to find on its Web site? If the answer is no, steer clear!

4)    If the service offers to monitor your personal information and alert you if someone may be fraudulently using it, is it clear what it monitors? If the answer is no, steer clear!

5)    Does the identity theft service make clear how monitoring or other features of its program actually help you? If the answer is no, steer clear!

6)    If the service offers to help identity theft victims, is it clear exactly what help it provides and who is eligible for it? If the answer is no, steer clear!

7)    Is the cost of the service provided before you are asked for your payment information? If the answer is no, steer clear!

8)    Does the service have a clear, transparent privacy policy? If the answer is no, steer clear!

9)    If the identity theft service offers insurance or a guarantee, is it clear what is covered and who is eligible? If the answer is no, steer clear!

Apple CEO Steve Jobs declares war on Google and RIM

Apple CEO Steve Jobs declares war on RIM and Google

In an unprecedented move, Apple CEO Steve Jobs criticized on both of his biggest smartphone rivals, during Apple’s quarterly earnings call. He claimed that Google’s Android system is fragmented and it is very difficult to code for developers. He also lashed out at Research In Motion, that they are too much in their comfort zones and not able to move beyond developing handsets for companies.

He has reason to be boasting, Steve Jobs’ company has just reported that for the first time Apple has broken the $20 Billion in revenue in a quarter. They also have a net income of $4.31 Billion with an Earning Per Share of $4.64. This represents a 70% growth from the same quarter last year.

The tremendous growth is mainly contributed by iPhone sales. During this quarter they have sold 14.1 Million iPhones, compare to 7.4 Million same quarter last year. This is a 91% increased over last year’s quarter.

“We sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter which represents a 91 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter and was well ahead of IDC’s latest published estimate of 64 percent growth for the global smartphone market in the September quarter,” said Jobs. “And it handily beat RIM’s 12.1 million Blackberrys sold in their most recent quarter ending in August. We’ve now passed RIM, and I don’t seem them catching up with us in the foreseeable future. They must move beyond their area of strength and comfort into the unfamiliar territory of trying to become a software platform company.”
