Father-Son Team To Release Radical Rethink of Online Compatibility Test

Online Dating

Online Dating

Clicck is at it again. The online dating website that married cutting edge technology with online matchmaking, is now questioning the viability of the industries current standard for pairing two individuals based on complementary personalities. Clicck’s psychological team, disappointed with the large number of online compatibility tests that lack clinical legitimacy, is working hard to create a meaningful alternative. While not trying to provide a full psychological profile, Clicck’s current questionnaire based on Big Five theory and the Neo is being reworked to generate a more in-depth review into what makes a potential mate tick, providing users with a much clearer and potentially more successful match.

Clicck keeps it in the family with a unique father-son team headed by one of America’s most respected psychologists, Diplomate Dr. Christopher Ovide Sr. who joined his son, CEO Christopher Ovide Jr. this year to provide a more accurate and professionally designed tool for those looking online for love. Dr. Ovide has teamed with Dr. Heather Martens, an attending psychologist with the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex currently focused on relationship and marriage counseling, her subsequent analysis is vital in developing a realistic and comprehensive psychological profile given the restraints of online technology.

“During our research and review of the available data we determined that it is essential to assess every aspect of an individual’s personality and include demographic compatibility into the mix before indicating two persons are compatible,” said Dr. Ovide. “In addition we felt it critical that people understand a compatibility test is not the same as a psychological profile. That being said we hope to provide a compatibility questionnaire that gives a fairly accurate psychological assessment to users in the hope that we provide more successful matches.”

Clicck’s second iteration compatibility questionnaire will also include two unique dimensions Dr. Ovide and Dr. Martins feel are absolutely essential to matching, but are not currently in use. “This is very exciting,” says CEO Chris Ovide Jr. “The new dimensions and a more user specific questionnaire will allow us to concentrate our recommendations and decrease the number of inaccurate matches.”

Chris Ovide Jr. is also excited about Clicck’s additional developments including two mobile apps currently in development and being engaged in sourcing A Round Financing with a prominent Venture Capital Firm in New York.

Vimeo Announces Winners of Inaugural 2010 Vimeo Awards at NYC Event

Nine Video Categories, Two Honorary Award Winners and One $25,000 Grant for Best Overall Video

Online video sharing site Vimeo®, an operating business of IAC (Nasdaq: IACI) tonight announced the winners of the Vimeo Awards at a gala awards ceremony hosted by Ze Frank at the SVA Theater in New York City.

“We developed the Vimeo Festival + Awards to recognize the people behind the most original creative videos on the Internet and give them a venue to learn from and inspire each other,” said Blake Whitman, Co-Director of the Vimeo Festival + Awards.  ”We received such incredible enthusiasm for this inaugural event, and the quality of the work that people have submitted has been incredible. The Vimeo Awards is a clear reflection of the influence and growth of high quality video available on the Internet.”

Submissions spanned the spectrum from traditional filmmaking to the use of emerging technologies.  The inspirational winners in the nine categories are:

  1. Narrative: “Thrush” by Gabriel Bisset-Smith
  2. Documentary: “Last Minutes with ODEN” by Phos Pictures
  3. Music Video: “Liars ‘Scissor’“ by Andy Bruntel
  4. Animation: “Between Bears” by Eran Hilleli
  5. Original Series: “Break-ups The Series” by Ted Tremper
  6. Experimental:  ”oops” by Chris Beckman
  7. Motion Graphics: “TRIANGLE” by Onur Senturk
  8. Captured: “Fluid Sculpture” by Charlie Bucket
  9. Remix: “BREAKDOWN the video” by Kasumi

A distinguished panel of judges — including M.I.A., David Lynch, Roman Coppola, Ted Hope, Lucy Walker, and Morgan Spurlock, to name a few — chose the winners  from more than 6,500 entries submitted from around the world. Legendary cult Director David Lynch, who judged the Experimental Category of the Festival commented, “The quality of films I watched for the Vimeo Festival was A Number One.”

Roman Coppola, film Director and founder and owner of The Directors Bureau, who judged the Music Video Category of the Festival added, “There is some really inventive stuff out there and I appreciated having a window into the creative work that people are producing.”

Vimeo Award for Best Video: “Last Minutes with ODEN” by Eliot Rausch chronicles the last minutes of a dog, Oden, who loses his struggle with cancer.  It is a deeply personal story, told from the perspective of Oden’s owner Jason Wood.  The film was shot using a Canon 7D by Directors of Photography Luke Korver and Matt Taylor.  Vimeo awarded them with the Best Video Award along with a grant of $25,000 for the purpose of making a new, original work.

Morgan Spurlock, a judge in the documentary category said, “I am so happy to take part in this acknowledgement of independent filmmakers from around the world.  It is definitely time for the online creative community to be celebrated.”

Jeremy Boxer, Co-Director of the Vimeo Festival + Awards reflected on the Best Video winner, “‘Last Minutes with ODEN’ is one of those rare, intimate shorts that leads with its heart and soul. The film has been crafted with superb skill and is a testament to the new generation of creators that use small cameras to tell personal tales. We are thrilled that this project has been selected as our overall winner and recipient of the first Vimeo Awards filmmaker grant.”

Honorary Awards for Digital Maverick, spotlighting an individual for pioneering spirit in the world of online video, went to the Neistat Brothers, who have been making films and posting them online for the past decade.  The Feature Presentation award, honoring the vanguard and innovative release of unique feature film online, went to Star Wars Uncut (2010 Interactive Emmy winner), which took an iconic film and the online video community to collaborate in a way that has not been seen before.

Self-Proclaimed $873 million man, the Facebook Spammer, Adam Guerbuez, Said He Won’t Pay

Adam Guerbuez on vacation

Adam Guerbuez on vacation

On Tuesday, a second court in Quebec Canada upheld the original California court ruling in 2008 of charging Adam Guerbuez and his company, Atlantis Blue Capital, US$873 million in fines and damages. This amount is calculated based on a $100 fine plus another $100 in damages for each spam message Guerbuez had sent out using Facebook.

Facebook filed legal action against Guerbuez in August 2008. Facebook claimed that Guerbuez tricked people into disclosing their usernames and passwords. He then sent out millions of unsolicited messages to them via Facebook about penis enlargement, erectile dysfunctional and sexual products.

“Does Facebook expect to quickly collect 873 million dollars and share the proceeds in some way with our users?” Facebook wrote on its own blog. “Alas, no. It’s unlikely that Guerbuez and Atlantis Blue Capital could ever honour the judgment rendered against them. But we are confident that this award represents a powerful deterrent to anyone and everyone who would seek to abuse Facebook and its users,”.

This is the largest fine ever awarded under the CAM SPAM act, which made Guerbuez an entry into the listing in the Guinness Book of World Records. Guerbuez is trying to cashing on his fame by looking into book and film deals. He claimed to be the $873 million man on his blog. He called a press conference to claim that he had filed bankruptcy and that he doesn’t have to pay Facebook anything. He even showed photos and videos on his blog of himself taking luxury vacations and dining in expensive restaurants. He said he had received several job offers, and he had Facebook to thank for. It appears that all he suffered from this saga is that he is banned from using Facebook, and that he had to file bankruptcy.

“After that, life goes on,” Guerbuez’s lawyer said. “It’s treated as any other debt.”

Guerbuez will hold another press conference on Wednesday to discuss the Quebec court ruling.

MapleCasino.ca Launches Raunchy New Website

maple-casino

a sexier version of Maple Casino

Canadian-facing online gambling operators MapleCasino.ca are not typically known for causing controversy, but their newly-designed website has been making waves and raising many an eyebrow across the online casino industry. Visitors of the MapleCasino.ca website can now be greeted by the illustrated personage of a bikini-clad woman with flaming red hair and well – endowed features. Her suggestively smiling “poker face” and the flashing of a four-of-a-kind Ace hand leads the eye downward to notice a black Magic Eight Ball bearing a Moose emblem, which seems to be flying to the foreground of the screen.

The newly-launched and highly provocative theme of MapleCasino.ca’s new website design has very quickly become a subject of interest, and even debate in some circles, raising the question of the scope and limitations of what themes may or may not be appropriate for online casino websites. Casino manager Charlotte Jackson dispels potential nay-sayers with the following statement:

“The previous brand image of MapleCasino.ca, although very tasteful and sophisticated, also ran the danger of being perceived as too conservative, and ran the risk of having what is in fact a very exciting and entertaining brand being overlooked. We wanted to show that a Canadian-facing website does not have to fit the usual stereotype, but that it can be bold, daring, dynamic and , most importantly, sexy. We’re here to push the boundaries, light some fires and get people excited about this fabulous casino!”

Furthermore, MapleCasino.ca argues that, despite some objections, the new website design appeals to the female market, which is often overlooked by the online gaming industry, by presenting an empowering depiction of women online casino players as being fully self realized and being ‘in control of their own fate’ as it were, citing the imagery as a humorous pun to that effect. Clicking on the red, flashing “Download Now” button which is strategically positioned below the Magic Eight Ball enables players to download the freely available casino software and register for a real account.

Modern Electric Car Era Begins November at the LA Auto Show

LA-AutoShow

LA-AutoShow - Mass-Production Electric Vehicles Become Available to Consumers

A new era of modern, electric drive transportation begins at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.  Worldwide, nearly all major automakers have announced plans for an electric car in the next few years and Los Angeles will receive the first arrivals in the next several months.

Auto manufacturers are looking to Los Angeles to lead the charge in early electric vehicle adoption, much as Los Angeles continues to lead in hybrid vehicles sales.  Since Los Angeles is recognized as a trendsetter for the automotive industry, it makes sense that at least a half-dozen electric vehicles will make news during the LA Auto Show Press Days Nov. 17 and 18.

The first electric cars to kick-off this new era are the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf, expected to arrive in November and December of this year, respectively.

Several other electric vehicles will debut at the LA Auto Show including the North American, production-version of Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV and Toyota’s RAV4 EV concept.  Expected to be one of the next electric vehicles to hit dealerships, the i-MiEV model debuting at the LA Show will be wider and will also include an upgraded list of standard and optional interior features to make it more attractive to the U.S. buyer.  Toyota’s RAV4 EV will use Tesla’s lithium-ion battery packs, which will be modified to become more aerodynamic. Toyota has been testing prototypes of the car, which is scheduled to hit the market in 2012.

This drive toward the electrification of the automobile has also spawned new manufacturers focused exclusively on the electric vehicle market.  Expected to reveal important news are at least two leaders in this category, including Santa Monica, California-based Coda Automotive and luxury electric car maker, Fisker Automotive.  Both manufacturers are expected to make customer deliveries in 2011.

“After years of anticipation, electric vehicles are finally here,” said Andy Fuzesi, LA Auto Show general manager.  ”It may take years for electric vehicles to be accepted broadly, but it’s undeniable that an electric era has officially begun.”

For the first time ever, the coveted Green Car of the Year award nominees will feature electric vehicles.  The focus of the Green Car of the Year award is to recognize significant environmental achievement in a production vehicle.  Having electric vehicles qualify for the prestigious award is further evidence that the modern electric car era is finally beginning in earnest.   The winner will once again be unveiled at an LA Auto Show press conference on Nov. 18.

Significant announcements about infrastructure are also expected at the show. Specifically, one of the region’s major utility providers, Southern California Edison, will address important questions about the costs of operating this new generation of plug-in vehicle.  Also, PEP charging stations will be on hand to demonstrate what is required for both in-home and commercial charging of electric vehicles.

About the Los Angeles Auto Show

The 2010 LA Auto Show will feature at least 20 world debuts and more than 20 North American debuts.
