Internet TV - 80 Percent of Retail Salespeople Say They Are Familiar With Connected TV

The Internet is most likely to debut in the American living room via a set-top box that is streaming rented content, says a nationwide survey of 3,600-plus consumer electronics retail sales associates conducted by Creative Channel Services (CCS).

Recently, the consumer market has seen an increase in the number of manufacturers that offer Connected TV (Internet TV) technology in stand-alone products and as an embedded feature in TVs, Blu-ray players and other entertainment devices. CCS, a retail marketing agency that works with both consumer-electronics manufacturers and retailers to enhance shopper experiences by empowering retail sales associates with product knowledge, commissioned the survey to gain an understanding of attitudes toward the burgeoning technology at retail stores.

What the agency found is that a majority of retail sales associates are knowledgeable and had definite views on how consumers are likely to adopt the technology, on what consumer activities will help it proliferate and on how long it will take for the technology to replace cable and satellite services.

The recent survey collected responses from store-level associates at national, regional and local retailers of consumer electronics products. The survey found that nearly 80 percent of respondents described themselves as familiar to very familiar with Connected TV and that more than 45 percent felt that consumers will prefer to invest approximately $250 in a set-top box over a new internet-enabled TV, Blu-ray player or home theater system.

When it comes to why consumers will invest in Connected TV, the top-rated response was to have a unified multimedia experience, with 53 percent of respondents rating the consumer-interest level for this activity at “very interested.” Streaming video was rated next highest, with 51 percent of respondents giving the capability a “very interested” response, followed by Web surfing (40%), using online applications (35%), listening to music (34%) and viewing photographs (34%).

Though Connected TV enjoys a high-profile at the moment, more than half of the respondents didn’t feel consumers would look to replace their cable and satellite television services with it for at least another five years (53%). However, the responding retail professionals personally felt that Connected TV technology could replace cable and satellite services sooner, with 28 percent seeing the shift taking hold in three years, and 22 percent seeing it happening as early as two years.

“This survey is very telling,” said Andy Restivo, president and CEO of CCS. “Who better to ask to determine adoption trends for new technologies than the people engaging shoppers every day? The survey highlights the fact that the average retail salesperson carries with them a tremendous amount of product knowledge, even for nascent technologies. As key influencers of consumer purchasing decisions, retail salespeople can drive adoption of cutting-edge technologies and help new products find homes in people’s living rooms.”

If the shift is going to happen soon, manufacturers will need to do more to inform the general public about Connected TV technology. In a survey of consumers also sponsored by CCS, just 31 percent of respondents said they were familiar with the technology, and only 17% said they were likely to purchase a Connected TV solution with the next year.

Sharyn Bovat, the middle Tennessee relocation consultant assigned to manage the move of Nissan board member Carlos Tavares was arrested and taken to jail on July 7th, 2010 by the Franklin police in Williamson County (case # gsc-3714); the details are documented in an interview with CoolSprings.com after Bovat’s release. According to court documents Bovat was arrested a 2nd time (case # gsc-2010) on July 15th. That case was dismissed during the preliminary hearing then when the Grand Jury met the charges were brought back and Bovat was sent back to jail a 3rd time on October 22nd (case # cr-105253) Bovat alleges the arrests were retaliation for her whistle blowing against what she calls a deep rooted “Good Ole Boy” network that dominates the politically conservative community.

Bovat alleges that officer Joe Burns of the Williamson County Sherriff’s department tried to arrest her a 4th time on October 26th, but she was not home. After seeing his business card in the door Bovat had a lawyer contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s office on her behalf that evening. The next day that warrant was declared a mistake in the computer. Bovat say’s “The stress of taking my daughter home from school and seeing a card from the warrants division, then having a lawyer call them, being told there was a warrant but it might be a mistake then having to wait till the next day to find out it was a mistake was horrible. My blood pressure is high, life is miserable as a whistle blower.”

Ironically the 4th alleged attempt to arrest Bovat was the day after Bovat appeared on the channel 5 10 o’clock news covering a controversial rezoning in the local school system. Bovat’s on air quote “I’m really passionate about the diversity issue, because what’s going to happen when the complex is zoned for Centennial. Basically Williamson County Schools is going to herd all the diversity to one high school.” Bovat alleges her continued activism in the community is why she’s faces charges and has all the stress today. Bovat says she wants to smile again and she has to work to pay her pending legal bills so she’ll try stand up.

SportsMetriX System Linked to NCAA Tournament Upsets

The unprecedented number of upsets in last season’s NCAA tournament was no coincidence. SportsMetriX software was the one common link that helped Butler, Northern Iowa, Murray State, Baylor, and Cornell for preparing pregame reports for their opponents. Sienna and Montana almost pulled off monumental upsets, too! SportsMetriX’s Basketball Scout software was used by 40 NCAA Div. I teams last year and consistently provided a 5-25 point swing.

SportsMetriX.net is making this software available to all sports fans and media to provide a real fantasy basketball experience by accurately comparing any team or player in the NCAA or NBA. This technology recognizes that all traditional game statistics and season statistics are tainted … since they depend on WHO you play. Teams don’t really know if they have a poor perimeter defense or if they just face good 3 Pt shooting teams.

Basketball Scout provides accurate performance metrics that account for WHO you play … so coaches and players can quickly identify their strengths and weaknesses to focus on areas that have the greatest impact.

According to Dr. Greg Rahn, President of GeneMetriX, “Every team has its own unique personality and recipe for success. It’s fun to discover the weaknesses of opponents, then formulate game plans to exploit those weaknesses.” Fans could have pregame strategy contests before every NBA or NCAA game. Basketball Scout also provides a postgame report which shows WHY teams won or lost the game. SportsMetriX unlocks a new realm of discussion topics for sports enthusiasts.

“Everybody wants our pregame reports and our postgame reports, especially for the NCAA tournament,” says Dr. Rahn. “With only one day of preparation, opponents don’t stand a chance.”

Trend to Downsizing Cars Means Less Cargo Space For Annual Road Trip. Company Says: Don't Buy a Bigger Car, Get a Bigger Cargo Box Instead

With Americans downsizing to smaller cars and hybrids, Thanksgiving travelers face new challenges on where to put luggage, family and gear. Yakima (www.yakima.com), known for vehicle racks for boats, bikes, camping, winter sports gear, trailers and cargo solutions, has a number of options for consumers looking for smart alternatives for hauling their loads for the holidays. Top of car options include the GetOut™ Pro (MSRP $149), the RocketBox™15 (MSRP $329), and SkyBox™ 16 (MSRP $435).

“More families will turn to car travel for the coming holiday in light of tight family budgets and crowded planes and higher airfares,” said Joel Grabenstein, marketing and promotions manager. “No matter how you work the numbers, it’s always smarter to buy a cargo box than a bigger car.”

“Considering this trend towards smaller and smaller cars, consumers are faced with the pressing problem of where to put their belongings. Yakima has solutions. Our racks are user-friendly and practical, for an easy travel experience. In addition, they have a life-time warranty, something consumers are looking for today,” he continued.

Specifically, the GetOut Pro, with 13 cubic ft. of storage space, is an alternative to a hard shell cargo box. It folds or rolls up for easy storage and attaches easily to raised factory side rails, crossbars or a cargo basket. In addition, the GetOut Pro has weather resistant sealed seams.

The RocketBox 15s, with 15 cubic feet for shorter roofs, works well with sedans or larger-vehicle owners who have items they don’t want to carry inside the car and locks securely.

Lastly, the lockable SkyBox 16 offers 16 cubic feet of storage and has an aerodynamic shape that reduces drag and cuts back on wind noise.

High Unemployment Rates Lead Consumers Searching For Debt Resolution Morgan Drexen Supports Attorneys In Reducing Debt

After several months out of work Stephanie Silver had drained her 401(K) and her debt was rising.

Personal savings were not an option for Stephanie an Oregon resident; she started using her credit cards for everyday items. Stephanie’s husband was re located to a new state to work this was the start of their financial troubles.

The Silver’s debt was more than $20,000 and with no work in sight they took $15,000 out of their 401(K). Stephanie admits, “I will never get back to where I was with my 401(K). I now only have 1000 dollars in my account. I was accumulating that for 10 years.”

Stephanie like many Americans was concerned with entering any debt reduction program, however for her it was a great success. Stephanie engaged with the Howard-Nassiri Law Firm, who are tough on lenders. They helped Stephanie negotiate with creditors and free herself of the financial burden that surrounded her.

The Howard-Nassiri Law Firm uses the complex automation of Morgan Drexen and their integrated support services. Attorney at Law Vincent Howard admits, “The legal support services and automation provided by Morgan Drexen to my law firm is priceless.”

Stephanie considered bankruptcy, ”I hadn’t heard about this attorney based debt resolution program before. I decided to take a chance. I tried to work with my creditors to lower the balance on my cards but of course they would not help.”

This attorney based debt resolution program offers a safe platform with someone who understands the intricacies of financial law. Stephanie says, “It was great to have access to an attorney, the threatening calls stopped, the letters it all stopped. I had nothing but good experiences with them. Everyone I spoke to was helpful, respectful, and pleasant and as a matter of fact I have recommended them to friends of mine who are in similar situation.”

With new Federal regulation in place it is now safer than ever to reduce your debt using an attorney based debt resolution program.

Gold and Energy Advisor Recommends British Petroleum (BP)

British Petroleum

James DiGeorgia of The Gold and Energy Advisor is recommending British Petroleum (BP). DiGeorgia says BP is one of the most undervalued oil and energy companies in the world.

Most people will tell you British Petroleum (BP) is a bad investment. James DiGeorgia, publisher of The Gold and Energy Advisor, says it’s one of the most undervalued oil and energy companies in the world, and that’s why he’s recommending it.

“This is a risky recommendation because of potential legal and other liabilities from the Gulf of Mexico disaster,” says DiGeorgia. “However, what makes BP so valuable is it has proved reserves of close to 18 billion BOE (Barrels of Equivalent Oil) and 45.3 billion BOE of non-proved reserves, of which 50% are oil.”

DiGeorgia also notes that the reserve’s life is about 43 years, which is very high.

Here’s DiGeorgia’s recommendation:

  • The stock is close to its high, so sell short a put to buy the stock at a lower price.
  • Open to sell short the BP Nov $40 put, symbol BP101120P40 at the market.
  • The stock is around $39.90, and the option is around $1.17. If we are assigned, our cost basis will be about $38.83.

DiGeorgia also points out that BP stock did not go through a basing period which is typical after a major correction. The stock is seeing resistance at the $42.50 area, with support at about $37.50.

DiGeorgia says BP took a $32 billion charge off related to the Gulf Oil disaster. They announced that they plan to sell up to $30 billion in assets to help cover costs over the next 15 months. BP CEO Bob Dudley, stated the company would like to reinstate their dividend early next year.
